Things to See

When visiting Bucharest there are a few places we feel like you cannot miss during your stay. This city that has its origin as a small trade centre in 1459, later served as a summer residence of Wallachian rulers developed to the capital of Romania in 1862. With all this, we can for sure say that you can fill at least two days with sightseeing in Bucharest. Here are some places you must see during your visit.

  1. Lipscani, the Old Town

This neighborhood located in the old town of Bucharest is known for cobblestone streets and well-preseverd architecture stemming from the 19th century. The streets of Lipscani are filled with traditional shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Even though you can entertain yourself by strolling around for hours looking at beautiful buildings, you can consider paying a the National Museum of Romanian History (Ticket prices are 20 RON for adults, and 5 RON for students).

  1. The Palace of Parliament

The Palace of Parliament, also known as The People’s Palace, is a major tourist attraction in Bucharest. It was once the largest civilian administration building in the world with 12 stories, 1,100 rooms and 3,500 chandeliers. The palace also has a Museum of Communism, a Library and a number of exhibitions and galleries. Tickets to the Palace are a bit pricey, with an entry fee of 50 RON.

  1. Cișmigiu Gardens

Located in the center of Bucharest, these 50 acres of gardens offer some of the best sights in town. Visitors can enjoy the well-manicured lawns, family-friendly activities, children’s playgrounds, boat rides and a variety of sporting areas. The entrance to the gardens is free of charge, making it a great option for those who don’t have plenty of time and a budget for sightseeing

  1. Arcul de Triumf (Arc de Triomph) 

This monument is a must-see in Bucharest. Located in the northern part of the city, the Arc was constructed in order to honor World War I veterans. It stands 66 meters high and the walkway atop the Arc provides a 360-degree view of the city. The Arc is free to visit and is a perfect place for a romantic evening stroll. There’s also a small museum located inside the monument, which is also free to visit.
